"Tamilok" or Woodenworm
Tamilok is a mangrove worm that is not exactly a worm. Although it looks like one, it is actually a mangrove-boring mollusk. They say it's slimy and salty but if you marinate in a mixture of vinegar, chili and onions and will be delicious. Tamilok usually bores into wooden structures and mangroves. Palawan's natural resources boosts of large areas.Eating a tamilok also means munching on pests because these creatures destroys every wood they come across, giving them the name “termites of the sea”. |
